DESIGNING FOR HEALTH, BIODIVERSITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT

LANDSCAPE Design

Truly sustainable development requires that equal weight should be granted to each of its three pillars; Economic, Social and Environmental. Sitting alongside the delivery of exciting design solutions, the Design for Health Assessment has been developed from a detailed review of research. It offers an integrated approach to the delivery of landscape masterplans providing a basis to create developments which embrace Health alongside Landscape, Amenity, Biodiversity and environmental enhancement. The Model allows Developers and Landscape Architects to review their Landscape Masterplans against the findings of health research. From this it is possible to optimise projects for health and wellbeing, biodiversity enhancement and to mitigate impacts of climate change.  This assessment can also be used to enhance existing Parks, Open Spaces and the wider natural environment.
